What to do if you stay a week in Alonissos

06/06/2025

If you have a whole week in Alonissos, you are in luck. The island has its own rhythm – calm, authentic and connected to nature. Below I will tell you the program that I did in Alonissos for 7 days that will allow you to get to know the island in depth, without being rushed or feeling like a tourist.

Day 1: Arrival & stroll in Patitiri. Patitiri, the port of Alonissos, is the perfect place to start. Take a leisurely stroll, have a coffee overlooking the harbor and take your first dips at the nearby Rousoum Gialos beach. In the evening, enjoy fresh fish at a tavern by the sea.

Day 2: Sunbath in Agios Dimitrios & a night out in Chora. Probably the most impressive beach on the island, Agios Dimitrios looks like a picture from the Caribbean. Grab supplies, a hat and sunscreen, and spend the day there. In the afternoon, go up to Palia Chora, walk through the picturesque alleys and enjoy the sunset with a drink.

Day 3: Boat trip to the Marine Park! Book a day trip by boat to discover the Alonissos – Northern Sporades Marine Park, we booked with Stella Cruises and had a wonderful time. You will see secluded beaches, caves, islets like Peristeri and, if you are lucky, maybe even the monk seal. A magical experience!

Day 4: Hiking on the island's trails. Alonissos has an extensive network of trails. Try the Vatsi – Glyfa – Marpounta route. Nature will reward you with peace, coolness and incredible views.

Day 5: Culture & relaxation. Visit the MOm Marine Conservation Institute in Patitiri, where you will learn about the Mediterranean monk seal and the ecological importance of the island. In the afternoon, relax on Megalos Mourtias beach and in the evening try local specialties such as twisted cheese pie and almond cakes.

Day 6: Off the beaten path. Take a caique or rent a boat to discover inaccessible beaches. These are experiences that are not in brochures but remain forever in the memory.

Day 7: Free day & farewell. Leave the last day free for what you liked most. Back in Chora? A last swim in Rousoum? Or a leisurely breakfast with a view? However you choose to spend it, Alonissos will have already offered you something more valuable than tourist impressions: real breath.

Bonus tips: Prefer June or September for fewer crowds.

Rent a car or scooter for more freedom.

Bring walking shoes – they are worth it.

I hope you liked the program I followed and found it useful.
